This beautiful Black-tailed deer buck was a regular visitor on our property on Black Mountain in Siskiyou County, California. I painted this scene of him resting contentedly in the shade of one of his favorite oak trees amid the dry, golden grasses of summer. I watched this buck grow from a cute fawn into this magnificent, stately buck.
