ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
I saw this delightful scene from the southern most tip of Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Oregon, and I thought it would make an appealing oil painting study. The sun was low on the horizon and was close to setting so the shadows were long and blue. It was low tide, so the beach revealed some of the rock outcroppings. The smoothness of the beach contrasted beautifully with the craggy rocks. There were sculpted sea stacks in the distance to the south which added drama to the setting. Harris Beach State Park is a beautiful state park with scenic beaches, rock monoliths, islands, outcrops, meandering creeks, and wildlife. It is a popular tourist destination.
