Crater Lake Bear

Medium: Watercolor, Digital/Photoshop, Image Size: 20”h x 18″w, T-shirt Image Size: 8.25″h x 14″w 2001.

This design was created as an apparel design for T-shirts. Our company, Trekker Designs, sold many of these bear shirts to Crater Lake Company who was the gift shop concessionaire for Crater Lake National Park at that time. Though they are usually nocturnal, bears can be seen during the day hunting or feeding. Bears eat berries, fruits, grubs, roots, honey, and plants. They are good fishermen, and they hunt whenever game is available. Look for signs of bear tracks on trails. Also look for ripped tree branches and dug up decayed wood piles.

Painted in watercolor. Scanned into the computer and floated. Digital painting and enhancements, graphics, colors, effects, and text were done in Photoshop.
