ABOUT THE ARTWORK:  This oil painting depicts the popular south beach at Harris Beach State Park in Brookings, Oregon. I frequented this beach throughout the year, but during winter, the beach sand is washed out to sea from the frequent winter storms and big rocks get exposed. I love the composition these rocks make, and this image with the rocks and water pools they create make a beautiful painting. I like the peaceful and simple design of the sand contrasted against the rugged rocks, as well as, the curvalinear shapes of the rocks contrasted with the linear elements of the waves and shoreline. The sun was nearly setting and the shadows were long and deep in blue hues.

Harris Beach State Park is a beautiful park with scenic beaches, rock monoliths, islands, outcrops, meandering creeks, and wildlife. It is a popular tourist destination.

Prints and paintings do not have the “Tarjan” watermarks on them.
