ABOUT THE ARTWORK:  I was inspired to do this painting when I saw some Snowy Plovers feeding among the surf’s edge while I was hiking at Beverly Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon. I was so thrilled because I had never seen Snowy Plovers except in photographs. These Plovers were some of the cutest, animated shorebirds I had ever seen, so I knew I would have to do a painting of them. For this painting I placed them in a rocky beach scene with various rounded beach rocks of diverse types, sizes, and shapes that I felt best complimented and camouflaged the birds. The Plovers are close to the surf’s edge, which is how I saw them.
