Stroll Among Giants
Medium: Watercolor, Image Size: 14.5″h x 22.75″w, 2010.
This painting depicts some of the eroded, gigantic rock monoliths at Bandon Beach, Oregon. This was at very low tide, so I could wander in between the towering rocks. I love their sculptural shapes and great size – which can be deceptive until you walk beside them, so that is why I included a human in the painting – to give it scale.
The beach is interspersed with these rock towers of various sizes, shapes and colors, so it makes an interesting place to stroll. It is like a sculpture garden created by the force of the sea and the resistance of the rocks.
