Golden Autumn Hills

Oil landscape painting by Janet Tarjan Erl.

Golden Autumn Hills

Medium: Oil, Image Size: 18″h x 24″w, 2011, Revised 2012.

This autumn scene is of the rolling hills east of Ashland, Oregon along Dead Indian Rd. I believe the background hills lead north into Shale City. When I saw this scene, the Oregon White Oak trees were in full autumn splendor. I love the contrast of blue shadows with the golden grasses and the orange oak foliage – a diverse palette of natural colors.

Title revised from Ashland Hills to Golden Autumn Hills.

Woodland Deer

Watercolor painting of a deer in woodland by Janet Tarjan Erl.

Woodland Deer

Medium: Watercolor, Image Size: 12″h x 16″w, 2008.

This woodland painting depicts a Black-tailed Deer looking alert in an oak woodland meadow. The spring meadow was lush and green from a location on Black Mt. in Siskiyou County, Calif. I did this in an impressionistic, watercolor style.

Original is sold.

Woodland’s Edge

Watercolor painting of a deer in woodland by Janet Tarjan Erl.

Woodland's Edge

Medium: Watercolor, Image Size: 18″h x 29 1/2″w, 1989.

I depicted this Mule Deer peacefully at rest in a golden field in Yreka, California. It was an old homestead with magnificent trees. I was particularly fond of this stately Ponderosa Pine, so I coupled it with this partly concealed Mule Deer. I was lucky to be able to explore this old homestead for many seasons before it was paved over and replaced by the Fairchild Medical Center.

Original is sold.
